James Maurer

James Maurer

James, a native of southern Nevada, is passionate about architecture for its emphasis on people and ‘spirit of place’. The two were inseparable from the beginning of his training . . . early on, a dear mentor of his once asked him: “your calling is to be an architect – but what is your why, your reason?” James’ response was, “to love and serve people”. By living a life of Faith, he has tried to live that motto ever since. Greatly influenced by his time abroad, especially in Torino, Lourdes, Orvieto, and Vienna, he believes that our exterior built environment can inspire and transform our interior life. Architecture is able to ask us the big questions about life . . . but our love and service to the people who dwell in our buildings endures far longer than the buildings themselves.

“Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.” -St. Therese of Lisieux
