Boulder City Library Renovations

Boulder City, Nevada

The Boulder City Library is a beacon to the community. With one of the highest circulations rates in Southern Nevada, Boulder City residents enjoy their library – which is a hub of community activity.

LGA was selected to provide conceptual design and community outreach services for the Boulder City Library who is looking to renovate their existing facility as well as expand into the basement, currently used as storage. Through feedback provided in programming exercises performed with board of director trustees, library staff, and through community outreach events, LGA designed a space that will serve the future needs of the library staff and patrons, while adding much needed amenities.

The basement, which will add 13,500 s.f. of additional space dedicated to youth and teens, features reading nooks, study rooms, and whimsical story time areas. Exterior improvements created a new entrance and drop off which was more accessible for elderly patrons and the southern portion of the building was designed with exterior patios and a playground.

Through a highly interactive community design process, LGA assisted the Boulder City Library District in building excitement and momentum within the community for the District’s 75 year anniversary. With an upcoming bond issue vote in November 2018, the District wanted to ensure that residents were informed of the design improvements.
